SP DX Contest 2005
We are glad do announce the final results of the SP DX Contest 2005. Thanks for participation in the SP DX Contest 2005. Our single-country event still gathers a lot of participants from all over the World. It is possible thanks to all of you: contesters from all over the world.
The time when the SP DX Contest 2005 took place was a very special time in Poland. Our great Polish Pope John Paul II died on Saturday night, April 2. When it happened a lot of us cancelled contest operation: for some hours or to the end of the contest.
In 2003 we decided to bring new categories into the rules: THREE BAND, SO AB MIXED QRP, LOW POWER and HIGH POWER categories. It is usually very hard to spread the changes in the contest rules. We tried to publish new rules and give as much information as possible. However there are still logs with wrong categories which do not exist any more. In such situations the score was recalculated to the possibly similar category. If we had to make a decision which category to choose we always decided to choose the one where the final score was better.
We experience the part of solar cycle which is not too good for new contest records. Sometimes there are very good propagation but usually not during contests. This year we had no logs in SO 10 meters entries. But we have new categories since 2003 and as you can see there’s still a lot of place for new records even when propagation does not cooperate with us. We would like to mention VE3QAA who has exactly the same number of valid QSOs (262) as in 2004 but this year he had better multiplier.
TROPHIES, PLAQUES, SPECIAL AWARDS
Every year we have special trophies or plaques sponsored for the best scores in a category, best CW score, best score from a continent etc. The awarded "category" is always the decision of a donor. Sponsored "categories" are not the same as contest categories. We have trophies for the best continental scores, best YL score etc. This year the following plaques were donated:
